Dead & Breakfast Named Best Decorated Halloween House In Del Ray

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Eternal Rest Dead & Breakfast may not sound like the kind of place you'd want to book a trip, but it makes for a good Halloween display. That's why the themed display at 410 E. Nelson Avenue won Del Ray's Best Decorated Halloween House contest.

The Mink family's display won both the Judges' Choice and People's Choice Awards. The judges were the Lawhorne and Krupicka families, while the public could vote for the People's Choice Award.

Rachel and Noah Mink shared details about their display with Patch for our Halloween House Guide in Northern Virginia. This is the fourth year the family has done a Halloween display, with each year featuring a new theme with new or repurposed items. Dead & Breakfast features a gate house with an animatronic little girl, skeletons in bed or dancing in the Honeymoon Suite, a reception desk, breakfast table with a floating, spinning "head" chef, ghosts, zombies, and perhaps even a creeping fog.
