Del Ray Beer Garden Could Open This Year: Report

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Del Ray's upcoming beer garden is under new ownership and could open as soon as late 2018.

Matt Rofougaran and Paymon Hadjiesmaeiloo of Tysons Biergarten will open a beer garden and restaurant called Hops ’n’ Shine, Washington Business Journal reports. The team recently acquired the space at 3410 Mount Vernon Avenue that housed Señor Chicken, which Hadjiesmaeiloo's father owned. The restaurant will have offerings like grilled cheese sandwiches, tater tot "totchos," salads, beer, wine and liquor.

Hadjiesmaeiloo's father proposed a beer garden concept approved by the council in March. The approval allows the restaurant to change from Señor Chicken with expanded hours, dine-in and carry-out alcohol sales and an outdoor beer garden.
