Del Ray Businesses To Raise Money On Community Lodgings Day
Businesses will donate a portion of sales to support a nonprofit working on affordable housing.

From the City of Alexandria: City of Alexandria Mayor Allison Silberberg declared Saturday, February 17, as “Community Lodgings Day” during the regularly scheduled City Council legislative meeting on Tuesday, February 13.
Community Lodgings, an Alexandria nonprofit offers affordable housing, transitional housing and youth education to low-income families, was created in December 1987 when eight local Episcopal churches and concerned citizens sought to help the city’s homeless population. Today it offers 39 one- to three-bedroom affordable housing apartments in the north end of Del Ray (Arlandria); six transitional housing apartments to families leaving homelessness, and a year-round youth education program for 120 area students.
“Community Lodgings is one of the best nonprofits in our city,” Silberberg said in September as she presided over the re-opening and renovation of seven affordable housing homes. “Thank you for [helping] some of our most vulnerable so they have a chance to get back on their feet.”
