Del Ray Holiday Decorating Contest Winners Named For 2022

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Winners of the 2022 Del Ray Holiday Decorating Contest were named Christmas Eve by the Del Ray Citizens Association.

Awards were given by judges for best home and business displays, and the public could vote for their favorite from Dec. 10 to 20. Judges included Del. Elizabeth Bennett-Parker, Councilmember Canek Aguirre and Sean Crumley.

In the home category, 107 Stewart Avenue took first place. Second place went to 409 Nelson Avenue, third place went to 105 E. Del Ray Avenue, and the honorable mention was 3103 Russell Road.

In the business category, Joy on the Avenue won first place. Second place went to Lena's Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap, third place went to The Garden, and the honorable mentions were Top It Off and The Dog Store.

Residents can also participate in the Del Ray Business Association's Holiday Art Scavenger Hunt through Jan. 1. Participants use clues to find up to 40 answers in the painted holiday windows at Del Ray businesses.

Participants can print out a clue sheet or pick up clues at Pat Miller Neighborhood Square (Mount Vernon and Oxford Avenues). When participants submit at least 25 completed answers in the snowman's mouth at Pat Miller Neighborhood Square, they will be entered in a drawing. Five winners will be chosen to receive a $50 gift card to their favorite Del Ray business. Entries must be received by Jan. 1.
