Del Ray Market To Celebrate National Farmers Market Week

The Del Ray market and other farmers markets will participate in National Farmers Market Week​ from Aug. 7 to 13.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — The Del Ray Farmers Market will be part of National Farmers Market Week, which runs from Aug. 7 to 13.

Since the year-round Del Ray market runs on Saturdays, the National Farmers Market Week activities will be held on Saturday, Aug. 13. Plans include a scavenger hunt during farmers market hours, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Children and adults are encouraged to participate by picking up a scavenger hunt form at the tent by United Bank. Anyone 18 and older who returns the completed form to the tent can be entered into a drawing for a $50 farmers market gift card.

National Farmers Market Week celebrates the contributions of farmers markets in communities and support for local farmers. The Del Ray Farmers Market runs all year on Saturdays and offers more than 20 vendors during the peak season. It is held Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Mount Vernon and Oxford Avenues.

Other farmers markets in the city include the Four Mile Run Farmers and Artisans Market Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Old Town North Farmers Market Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays, Old Town Farmers Market on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. and West End Farmers Market Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

National Farmers Market Week activities will also take place at the Fairfax County Park Authority's 10 markets and dozens of FRESHFARM markets around Virginia, DC and Maryland, including at the Mosaic District.
