Del Ray Psych & Wellness Opens On Mount Vernon Avenue

Among the newest businesses in the Del Ray neighborhood is Del Ray Psych & Wellness at 1900 Mount Vernon Avenue. The new business, which offers a holistic approach to health and wellness treatment, celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting Wednesday, Sept. 20.

Owners Lauren Fisher and Eleni Boosalis have worked together for six years and dreamed of opening their own practice. "We always wanted to have a wellness center where we could treat, but holistically," Boosalis told Patch.

When Del Ray Business Association's Pat Miller mentioned about a potential building, they jumped on the opportunity to visit.

From there, it was history.

Their holistic approach focuses on treating a person as a whole, not just by parts. Fisher and Boosalis are psychologists, while other staff members range from a nutrition consultant, massage therapist to career counselor and trauma therapist.

Being involved in the community is another aspect of the business, Boosalis said. The practice holds free community events on Wednesdays collecting donations for their charity of the month. Fisher is a Del Ray resident and serves on the Del Ray Business Association Board of Directors. She's helped organize the Candy Cane and Spring Bar Crawls. Del Ray Psych & Wellness also participated in Well Ray.

Boosalis adds that the community feel and wellness-minded neighborhood makes it worthwhile working in Del Ray. "We definitely like the small town community feel," she said. "It seems like everyone wants to work together."
