Del Ray's First Thursday With Superhero Theme In June Postponed

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Whether you're a DC or Marvel fan, head to Mount Vernon Avenue in your superhero attire for the next First Thursday street festival next Thursday. The event was postponed from June 2 to June 9 due to thunderstorms.

First Thursday is held every first Thursday of the month from April to September between 6 p.m. and dusk. Every month features a different theme, and June's theme is Unmask Your Superhero. Attendees are encouraged to wear superhero gear and enjoy themed activities and live music. Attendance is free.

Each month's First Thursday benefits a different local nonprofit. June's featured nonprofit is the Dunbar Alexandria-Olympic Boys & Girls Club, which provides programs for youth in Alexandria. Donations may be brought to Pat Miller Neighborhood Square at Mount Vernon and Oxford Avenues. Needed donations include individually-wrapped children's snacks such as fruit snacks, juice boxes, Gatorade, Capri Sun, crackers, and apple sauce squeeze packets or cups. First Thursday precedes a weekend of festivities with the Taste of Del Ray. A VIP reception will be held Thursday, followed by Taste of Del Ray at participating restaurants from Friday to Sunday.
