Virginia Congressional Shooting: Rep. Steve Scalise Critical With More Surgeries Needed, 5 Others Injured; Suspect Dead

An Illinois man who posted anti-President Trump messages on Facebook opened fire on a group of congressmen and aides on a baseball field Wednesday, striking House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, police officers and two others before being killed in a shootout with Virginia and U.S. Capitol Police. In all, six people were injured while Republican members of Congress held baseball practice at a park in Alexandria, Virginia.

Dog Missing After Alexandria Congressional Shooting

A dog that went missing during the Congressional shooting at Eugene Simpson Stadium Park Wednesday morning was found about 24 hours later. Daphnae, a black and white pointer mix, was scared off by the gunshots at a dog park on Monroe Avenue. She is about 50 pounds and was wearing a pink harness.

Two Del Ray Restaurants On Best DC Area Dishes List

Two Del Ray restaurants made The Washington Post's "40 Most Essential DC Restaurant Dishes of 2017."
These were Junction Bakery & Bistro for its General Tso’s cauliflower and Stomping Ground for its "Not So Classic" fried chicken biscuit. The two restaurants were the only representing Alexandria.
The Post determined the top dishes by polling readers, industry insiders and its own staff. It received over 400 submissions and narrowed it down through a taste test.

Mouse Droppings On Shelves: Del Ray Restaurant Violations

As part of a regular feature, Patch looks at restaurant inspections in Del Ray. Among the violations were mouse droppings on food storage shelves at Rosemarino d'Italia.

Suspect Arrested In Late Night Assault Near Del Ray

A suspect was arrested in an assault north of Del Ray at the 3900 block of Mount Vernon Avenue. The victim had minor injuries and did not require medical attention. Jose Umanzor Buruca, 27, of Alexandria was arrested and charged with malicious wounding and falsely identifying to law enforcement.
