Dog Swims Planned After Pool Season Ends In Alexandria

The city's pools have closed for the season, which means it's almost time for dogs to have fun in the pools.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — After pool season ended after Labor Day weekend, Alexandria's pools will go to the dogs. The annual dog swims are planned at two city pools.

The dog swims are planned Saturday, Sept. 18 from 11 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. at Warwick Pool (3301 Landover Street) and on Sunday, Sept. 19 from 11 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. at Old Town Pool (1609 Cameron Street). There is no dog swim at Memorial Pool at Charles Houston Recreation Center. Stay tuned for an announcement on a dog swim at NOVA Parks' Great Waves Waterpark at Cameron Run Regional Park.

Dog swims allow dog owners to bring their furry friends for some pool fun before the pools are cleaned and drained for the winter. Admission is free, but tickets are required. Space is limited to 50 people and 100 dogs in the pool area at one time.
