Kids Helping Kids, Inc. is an effort by teens in Alexandria to help children in need in Alexandria. Founded in 2002, Kids Helping Kids is a group of about two dozen teens, ages 13-17. These teens are the backbone of the organization, recruiting youth volunteers, spreading awareness of the event, gathering sponsors to donate supplies, and organizing the precise logistics of the event. In its ninth year, Lemonaide Day has raised over $83,000 for various children’s charities in Alexandria including Coats for Kids, ALIVE! Child Development Center, Center for Alexandria’s Children, Child & Family Network Centers, Camp Grimm-the Alexandria Police Youth Camp and Grandma Rita’s Children! Kids Helping Kids is a registered corporation in the state of Virginia and has a 501 (c) 3 non-profit status. Lemonaide Day is a youth driven operation consisting of selling lemonade throughout Alexandria’s neighborhoods by children of all ages.
