On Wednesday, November 30th, at 7:00 p.m., St. Andrew & St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Catholic Church in Alexandria will hold its annual Evensong and Kirkin’ O’ the Tartan service. A festive reception will follow. The public is invited.
Kirkin’ O’ the Tartan, which means churching or blessing of the tartan, is a modern North American tradition held in churches in American and Canada throughout the year. It is based on an ancient Scottish tradition of blessing the clans.
