1st through 5th graders sign up for 15-minute slots, during which they each read to a furry friend and listener.
Research, as well as anecdotal evidence, suggests that children who read to dogs improve their reading skills significantly. They feel comfortable because the dog doesn’t judge or correct them and they can relax and enjoy reading out loud. As one child said, “It’s just you and the dog. If I make a mistake, there’s no one around to laugh.”
