Federal officials have seized a package sent to an Alexandria man by gunman Myron May, who opened fire Thursday at a university library in Florida, according to a report by CNN.

Alexandria resident Joe Paul said Friday that he was told by a postal inspector that a package sent to him by his friend, May, was intercepted. Paul said he was told no hazardous materials were found in the package.

“I really thought it was a wedding invitation or something,” Paul told the TV news network. “On Wednesday at 9:53 (p.m.), he said y’all should receive your packages Friday. Then I went to sleep and woke up to tragedy.”

Three people were wounded when May opened fire at the university library, according to news reports; May was a graduate of the university and a graduate of the law school at Texas Tech University. He reportedly left behind journals stating that he thought he was being followed and watched by law enforcement. Friends and family said he also suffered from mental disorders.
