Hops N Shine Beer Garden Opens In Del Ray
The beer garden features a large selection of beers and grilled cheese.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Del Ray's newest beer garden, Hops N Shine, is up and running. The beer garden held its grand opening over the weekend.
The beer garden is open at 3410 Mt Vernon Avenue, the former location of Señor Chicken. Co-owner Matt Rofougaran worked with Señor Chicken owner Abe Hadjiesmaeiloo at Tysons Biergarten, joining with his son Paymon Hadjiesmaeiloo and C.J. Cross to open a similar concept in Del Ray, Washingtonian reported.
Hops N Shine features a food menu with build-your-own and specialty grilled cheeses, as well as loaded hot dogs, sausages, fries and tater tots and other offerings. The selection of beers is just as wide. Expect brews from Alexandria's own Port City Brewing Company, DC's 3 Stars Brewing Company, and places around the U.S., Germany and Belgium. The drink menu also includes moonshine and cocktails made with seasonal ingredients.

The outdoor portion of the beer garden is in the works, according to Washingtonian. The outdoor dining drew some criticism from nearby residents during the approval process. Hours for the outdoor beer garden will be limited to 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Last spring, the city gave the beer garden approval with restrictions, including no more than 30 outdoor seats. The restaurant concept changed from Señor Chicken to Hops N Shine after the city gave the outdoor beer garden approval.
