How To Recycle Your Christmas Tree In Alexandria

If your Christmas tree's cycle of life is ending, you have a few weeks to get rid of it around Alexandria.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Whether you've had your tree since the Thanksgiving holiday or the week of Christmas, your Christmas tree probably begun losing needles and drying out. Now is the time to take your Christmas tree out to the curb.

If it's time for the Christmas tree to go, City of Alexandria residents can put out their trees out with the regular trash collection from Jan. 2-12. The trees will be ground into mulch, which residents can get in the spring.

Before putting your tree out, remove all ornaments, tinsel, and stands. Do not place trees in plastic bags. Trees will be picked up at the yard waste collection point if they're out by 6 a.m. on collection day.
