Join These 2022 Easter Egg Hunts Around Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, VA — If you're looking for things to do with the family, there are plenty of upcoming Easter events in and around Alexandria.

There are numerous egg hunts planned in Alexandria and surrounding communities. Many are free to attend, but check each event to see if registration is required.

Another option for Easter fun is the traditional Easter bunny photo. Round up the family for a photo with the Easter Bunny at Springfield Town Center through April 16. Pets can even join the fun on Mondays through April 11. Photo packages may be purchased in advance and on site.

Here are some upcoming Easter events for the family in and around Alexandria:

Easter Egg Hunt: Saturday, April 2, 10 a.m.

Del Ray UMC, 100 E Windsor Avenue, Alexandria, VA

All are welcome to this annual Easter egg hunt. There will be around 1,400 eggs to search for around the property. After the egg hunts conclude, stick around to enjoy the playground, sidewalk chalk and games. Participants may bring a gift card to donate to Carpenter's Shelter; the suggested donation is a $25 gift card from Visa, Target or Walmart.

Easter Egg Hunt and Show: Saturday, April 16, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Fort Ward Park, 4301 West Braddock Road, Alexandria, VA

This popular show with princesses, heroes and the Easter Bunny is back for a third year. An egg hunt will be held before the show. This is a ticketed event hosted by Princess Parties of DC.

Easter Egg Hunt at Lee-Fendall House: April 16-17 (sold out)

Children hunt for eggs in the Lee-Fendall House garden in this popular event. The event is sold out for 2022.

Easter Egg Hunt: Saturday, April 16, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Alexandria Free Methodist Church, 4901 Polk Avenue, Alexandria, VA

Young children are invited to this free egg hunt. An Easter puppet show will also be held. Attendees should arrive to register at 10 a.m.

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny at Theismann's Restaurant: Saturday, April 16 and Sunday, April 17, 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Theismann's Restaurant, 1800 Diagonal Road, Alexandria, VA

Join the bunny for breakfast and a photo. The event includes an Easter egg hunt and make-your-own Easter basket for children. This is a ticketed event.

Easter Egg Hunt at Lena's: Sunday, April 17

Lena's Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap, 401 East Braddock Road, Alexandria, VA

Hop down to Lena's for Easter specials. The Easter Bunny will pay a visit for complimentary photos from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Easter egg hunts will be held at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Reservations are being filled up, so contact Lena's to secure your table. Another dining option is the Easter Family Meal To-Go, available to order until April 13.

Trinity's Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt: Saturday, April 2, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Trinity UMC, 2911 Cameron Mills Road, Alexandria, VA

Children up to fifth grade are invited to participate in this egg hunt and meet the Easter Bunny. Activities will follow the egg hunt until noon. Preregistration is requested.

Children's Easter Celebration: Saturday, April 9, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Franconia United Methodist Church, 6037 Franconia Road, Alexandria, VA

A children's Easter event will be held at Franconia UMC. Registration is required.

Community Easter Egg Hunt: Saturday, April 16, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Harvest Church, 7401 Beulah Street, Alexandria, VA

For Easter weekend, the church has planned games, a bounce house, face painting, cupcake walk, obstacle course, petting zoo and more.

Colorful Easter Run: Sunday, April 10, 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church, 2001 Sherwood Hall Lane, Alexandria, VA 22306

This free run is similar to a color run. Children will receive Easter eggs as they get blasted with colors. The event will have pizza, water and Sweet Frog available for purchase. Registration closes on April 3.

Mount Vernon Easter Egg Hunt: Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16

Mount Vernon Rec Center, 2017 Belle View Boulevard, Alexandria, VA

This different take on an Easter egg hunt lets children search the pool at Mount Vernon Rec Center for Easter eggs. Eggs will be scattered in public swimming areas for children to walk, paddle and dive to find. Eggs will be distributed throughout the pool several times, and there will be other games around the pool. All participants will receive a goodie bag. Non-swimmers must have an adult with them in the pool. Preregistration is required.
