Keira Moran To Record CD On New Year's Benefiting Students
The singer and T.C. Williams alum will record the CD live at First Night Alexandria, with proceeds benefiting student scholarships.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—This will be Alexandria legend Ann Dorman’s final year as Executive Director of First Night Alexandria. It will also be award-winning singer/songwriter Keira Moran’s final year as the headlining act, and they have both decided to go out big by doing what they do best: giving back to the community.
Keira Moran, the daughter of former Congressman and Alexandria mayor James P. Moran, will be a highlight of First Night Alexandria by performing a set of original songs accompanied by T.C. Williams’ 22-piece string orchestra. An alumna of T.C. Williams and the internationally acclaimed Frost School of Music, Keira has written the music, lyrics, and entire score for the orchestra.
The concert will be recorded and sold as a CD/video, and all funds will be donated to the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria. Keira is proud to hold the record for the largest active student contributor to the fund.

As a student at T.C., she donated a portion of the iTunes sales of her first album “Wondergirl,” and the proceeds were used to create the Wondergirl Scholarship “awarded to a student that excels in academics and the arts.” Keira is in town for this event from Los Angeles where she is working with songwriter/producer/artist/12-time Grammy nominee RedOne.
The evening will begin at 7 pm with a tribute to Dorman for her 16 years of service to the community, presented by Congressman Moran. It will be followed by the Battle of the Local Stars competition at the Durant Center, where Keira will serve as a mentor and judge. Before the winner is announced, Keira will perform her set with the orchestra around 9:20 p.m.

“Although being a songwriter means that I work in Los Angeles now, Alexandria is my home and it is very rewarding to give back to the community that has given me so much," Keira said about her performance.
First Night Alexandria will begin around 2 p.m. on New Year's Eve, offering activities around the city leading up to fireworks at midnight. See more information about New Year's events in Alexandria here and learn more about Keira Moran here.
