The owner discusses the new coworking space and her favorite spots to eat in Del Ray.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—If you're tired of working from home, that doesn't have to be an option in Del Ray. GSD Workclub opened this year at 2312 Mt Vernon Avenue.
It's an alternative to the traditional workspace, whether you're a telecommuters to visitors looking to catch up on their work. There are a variety of options from a workspace for a day to private offices and a conference room.
Patch reached out to owner Michelle Coyle to discuss how GSD serves the community and other things she loves about Del Ray.

What does your business provide?
GSD is a community coworking, meeting, and event space - we provide a comfy place with a cool vibe for neighborhood folks to get stuff done during the day and network at night.

How long have you been in business?
We opened in January of this year.
What made you decide to open this business?
I had been working out of my house for over a year and was going crazy. I liked working FOR myself but I hated working BY myself - and I was having a hard time staying focused on my work at home with the kids running around and the laundry piling up. So I decided to open a cool space that I’d want to spend substantial time in and find some awesome people to share it with me. From there, it became apparent that we needed meeting and event space, and a few private offices too, so we recently expanded to include all of those things.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?
Focus on the why, not the how. If you’re solving a real problem for people, and you stay focused on making their lives better, success will follow.
What is your favorite part of working in the Del Ray community?
I love Del Ray! I am the type of person who loves to go to the same places and order the same things every day, so I’m a huge fan of the restaurants on our block, especially Stomping Grounds, Holy Cow, and Dairy Godmother (that’s right, I eat scrambled eggs, cheeseburgers, and frozen custard daily - don’t judge me!).
