Mask Up For Alexandria's 2020 Summer Sidewalk Sale

ALEXANDRIA, VA — The pandemic won't stop one of Alexandria's summer traditions. The annual Alexandria Summer Sidewalk Sale is set to happen on Saturday, Aug. 15 and Sunday, Aug. 16 at Old Town, Del Ray and other city businesses.

More than 50 small businesses will be discounted merchandise as part of this year's event. Participants range from Del Ray's Kiskadee, Top It Off, and La Brocante; to Old Town boutiques like TSALT, The Hive, and Bishop Boutique; and bookstores like Hooray for Books! and Old Town Books.

Shoppers are encouraged to wear their favorite face covering and pick up a map of participating stores. The map will be available online on the week of the event and at the triangle park at the corner of King and Fayette Streets and the Alexandria Visitor Center, 221 King Street.

Participating stores will be marked with a pink flamingo, part of an Instagram giveaway contest. Take a picture with the flamingo in the week and weekend before the sidewalk sale, post the image to Instagram and tag @otboutiques, @oldtownbusiness and @VisitAlexVA with hashtag #ALXsidewalksale to be entered for a $100 gift card to the Sidewalk Sale boutique of your choice. The winner will be selected on Aug. 17. Follow @VisitAlexVA on Instagram for a change to win a $125 boutique gift certificate and washable cotton mask during the two Fridays before the Sidewalk sale.

The event is held by Visit Alexandria in partnership with the city, Old Town Boutique District, Old Town Business Association and Del Ray Business Association. The City of Alexandria will make meter parking free in Old Town on Saturday and Sunday. Street parking is always free in Del Ray.
