MedStar PromptCare to Open at Bradlee Shopping Center in Alexandria
Alexandria location will be first in Virginia for network of urgent care centers.

The space at Bradlee Shopping Center where Blockbuster Video used to be located for many years will finally have a new long-term tenant, it seems. Blockbuster closed at the location in early 2012.
PromptCare, an urgent care center for help with non-life threatening injuries or illnesses (everything from sinus infections to a sprained ankle, plus things like physicals for school), will be opening in late 2014, according to its Web site. The center will be an alternative to going to the ER or visiting a doctor who’s already booked.
Co-pays are usually less expensive for visiting an urgent care center vs. the emergency room, according to FAIR Health.

PromptCare is hiring for several positions at the Alexandria location including for a Patient Services Coordinator and a Clinical Care Radiology Technician Specialist.
Last year, Patch asked readers what they would like to see at the location. Some of their answers included a bookstore, Chipotle, children’s indoor play space, ZIP’s dry cleaner or a “craft store like AC Moore or Michael’s.”
California Tortilla is also coming soon to Bradlee Shopping Center.
Bradlee Shopping Center is managed by Rockville-based Washington Real Estate Investment Trust (WRIT).
