No Alexandria Restaurants Cited In Unannounced Inspections
The health department has been enforcing the face mask requirement and other guidelines in restaurant inspections.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria restaurants overall appear to be compliant with state guidelines related to the coronavirus. About 100 unannounced restaurant inspections by the Alexandria Health Department last week resulted in no citations.
Health departments were asked to step up enforcement of the state's phase three guidelines, including orders that require physical distancing and the closure of bar seating at restaurants, as well as a face mask requirement. Last week's inspections were completed in the Chirilagua, Del Ray, Old Town and West End areas of the city. The health department says one business received a warning for having a bar open, but the action was immediately corrected.
In Alexandria, numerous businesses have also taken the ALX Promise pledge. That means the business participated in training on requirements to reopen with a health department environmental health specialist; trained employees on safety measures; submitted a completed checklist, training record and pledge commitment for the safety of employees; and agreed to follow future health guidance. Those businesses are listed at www.visitalexandriava.com/alx-promise.
