Police: Alexandria Man, 84, Stabbed by Burglar

Couple entered their home Friday afternoon on Jackson Place, surprising suspect in burglary; resident is in serious condition.

An elderly Alexandria couple entering their home Friday afternoon surprised a burglar, who then stabbed the husband, 84, Alexandria Police said late Friday in a news release.

The resident is in serious condition at the hospital, police said.

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating the burglary and subsequent malicious wounding that occurred Friday afternoon in the 400 block of Jackson Place, in the Jefferson Park neighborhood of North Ridge. The area is near the lower school campus of St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School.

The incident took place around 4 p.m. Friday, when police responded to the residence for the report of a stabbing. Preliminary investigation suggests that the elderly couple entered their home and interrupted the burglary, police said.

The victim was then stabbed by the suspect, police said. The victim was transported to the hospital where he is in serious condition. The suspect was not located and police did not have a description Friday night.
