Police: Clerk Shot Sunday Night During Robbery of Alexandria Gas Station
City resident, 41, is in stable condition at an area hospital, according to police.

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a robbery and shooting that occurred Sunday at approximately 11:30 p.m. in the 700 block of N. Washington Street, according to a news release from police. There are a number of gas stations on the block, but police did not specify which gas station was robbed.
An adult male suspect entered a gas station and demanded money from the clerk while displaying a handgun. After receiving cash the suspect shot the clerk once in the torso. The clerk, a 41 year-old male City resident, was transported to a local hospital. He is in stable condition.
The suspect is described as a black male of average build and height. (No age range was given by police.) He was last seen wearing a gray hooded-sweatshirt and jeans. The suspect was armed with a handgun.
