Construction Truck Involved in Fatal Hit and Run in Alexandria: Report
Police have identified the victim and the driver of the truck, but have not released their names. So far, no charges for driver.

A female pedestrian was struck and killed Thursday morning by a hit and run driver in Alexandria, according to the Alexandria Police Department. The woman was killed at about 9:20 a.m. at the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Braddock Road, according to police.

The woman who was killed has been identified by police, but her name will not be released until family members have been notified, according to the Alexandria Police Department.
The vehicle and driver involved in the incident have also been identified, according to police.

NBC-4 reports that Alexandria police investigators have towed a construction truck from Prince George’s County, Md. back to Alexandria, and that the truck was driven by a woman, although police have not confirmed that information. The TV station reports that the truck was delivering materials to a nearby construction site.
Police said it is being determined whether charges will be brought against the driver. The driver on Thursday was not under arrest, according to police spokeswoman Crystal Nosal.
It’s uncertain whether the woman who was killed was walking in a crosswalk and whether the driver of the truck knew she had struck the pedestrian.
Anyone who was in the area between 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Thursday and witnessed anything unusual or who has any information related to the incident is asked to call Investigator Barrett 703.746.6873.
On Thursday, streets were closed off for hours about three blocks in all directions as police investigated the scene.
Police used a LEICA scanner from Virginia State Police to help reconstruction the accident scene. Alexandria Police Chief Earl Cook was also on the scene Thursday afternoon.
