Updated: PTA Council Surveys Democratic Candidates

City's PTA Council asks candidates about issues facing Alexandria City Public Schools.

The PTA Council of Alexandria distributed a candidate survey concerning school issues to all 14 candidates running in the Democratic primary for City Council.

The survey asks candidates 11 questions, including their experiences with Alexandria City Public Schools, their thoughts on the relationship between council and the School Board, and on issues of school-capacity and pupil spending.   

As of Wednesday, all but incumbent returned the questionnaire to the PTA Council. The surveys are posted on the PTA website

The PTA Council plans to survey Republican candidates , and at a later date. The survey of Democratic candidates was released this week with the primary looming on Tuesday.

“ACPS will need a well-informed and supportive City Council, populated by members who are willing and able to work constructively with our School Board, administration and community,” reads a message on the Cora Kelly PTA website.
