Roof Replacement Begins at George Washington Middle School
On Friday, the crane was erected and roof materials were delivered; work started on Monday.

Work got underway this week to replace the roof at George Washington Middle School, 1005 Mount Vernon Ave. in Alexandria, according to Alexandria City Public Schools.
“Behind-the-scenes” work — including approval of product submittals, ordering of materials and finalization of site mobilization procedures — started in June.
A crane was erected and roof materials were delivered last Friday and work started on Monday. The approximately 48,000 square feet of roof replacement will be accomplished in four consecutive stages and, weather permitting, will be completed by the end of October.

The daily sequencing of the roof replacement will include full demolition and replacement so that each area of the roof is water-tight when the contractors leave for the day.
