Japanese Restaurant Seeks To Open In Old Town North

Hinata Japanese Restaurant will join Oak Steakhouse and other businesses at the 530 First Street development.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A new Japanese restaurant is looking to join the food options at a new Old Town North development in Alexandria. Hinata Japanese Restaurant applied for a special use permit at 903 North St. Asaph Street on Aug. 5.

Hinata would be in a 2,230-square-foot space as part of the new 530 First Street development. According to the development website, it has a total of 50,000 square feet of retail, a 232 residential-unit community called Gables Old Town North, and 240 retail parking spots. Oak Steakhouse and West Elm are among the retail spaces that have already opened. Gables is leasing apartments.

Menu offerings at Hinata could include beer as well as hot and cold sake. The restaurant plans for 40 dining seats and 21 bar seats. Proposed hours are 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for lunch and 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. for dinner Monday through Saturday. Sunday hours would be 4 p.m.-9 p.m.
