Scholarship Fund of Alexandria Seeks Sponsors, Volunteers for 29th Annual Gala

The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria will host its 29th Annual Spring Gala on Saturday, April 25 at 6 p.m. at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center.

The event, titled “A Splendid, Fabulous Affair,” will begin with an open bar cocktail reception where guests will have a chance to mingle and bid on the silent auction. The reception will be followed by dinner in the elegant Plaza Ballroom and an evening of dancing to the music of Grooveline.

One of the biggest events in Alexandria, the Spring Gala is the annual signature event for the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria. The community celebrates the generosity of Alexandrians, honors the achievements of past scholarship recipients and raises contributions to benefit future graduates of T.C. Williams High School.

Gala co-chairs Laura Cassidy and Kristi Komai are now recruiting volunteers to help with the planning and execution of the event. Volunteers can either join the gala committee in planning the silent auction, entertainment, program, sponsorship, promotion or assist at the gala. Day-of-the-event volunteers will receive mandatory training.

“For the SFA Gala the community comes together for the good of our kids,” according to Cassidy. “This is a premier event where you can do good while having a good time and be energized by the inspiring stories of obstacles overcome and goals achieved by our scholarship recipients.”

A highlight of the night is the raffle drawing for a 2015 Toyota Rav-4 or $25,000 generously donated by Jack Taylor’s Alexandria Toyota/Scion.

The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization providing merit- and need-based scholarships and financial aid advising to Alexandria City Public School Students. Since 1986, SFA has awarded $11 million in scholarships, making college dreams come true for 4,000 students. In 2014, 364 students were awarded $900,000 in scholarships.
