Spring2ACTion: 24 Hours of Giving to Alexandria Non-Profits

Wednesday, April 22 is Spring2ACTion, Alexandria’s 24-hour online giving event. Organizers hope to raise $1 million or more for local charities.

You can give now by visiting Spring2ACTion. Every donation you make Wednesday helps your favorite nonprofits qualify to earn prize money and awards, furthering the impact of your donation. Click here to search for your favorite nonprofit(s) and start giving.

See a list of local businesses and restaurants where you can shop and dine Wednesday, and see a percentage of your purchase go to charity.

Here’s the day’s schedule:

• 12:00 AM: Spring2ACTion starts! Go online to www.spring2action.org to donate!
• 12:00-8:00 AM: First Power Hour
• 6:00 AM-10:00 PM: Show your donation receipt or sticker at Sugar Shack Donuts for a free donut!
• 7:00-9:00 AM: Spring2ACTion heads to Braddock Metro to hand out some fun giveaways.
• 7:00 AM-3:00 PM: Have Coffee for A Cause with Urban Alliance at Misha’s Coffeehouse!
• 7:00 AM-4:00 PM: Pick up your free donut and hang out with Carpenter’s Shelter at Sugar Shack Donuts.
• 7:00 AM-10:00 PM: Dine, drop off books and make a difference with DreamDog Foundation at Cafe Pizzaiolo.
• 8:00 AM-12:00 PM: Stop by Senior Services of Alexandria’s table at Sugar Shack Donuts.
• 9:00AM-9:00 PM: At Home in Alexandria (AHA) celebrates 4 years with champagne and cupcakes at Del Ray Cafe. 9:00 AM-9:00 PM: Get ready to shop and dine your way through Alexandria! Old Town Boutique District and Del Ray Business Association shops and other businesses are donating a % of proceeds to nonprofits on April 22! • 10:00AM-9:00 PM: Get to know your local arts organizations at an all day open house at CONVERGENCE.
• 11:00AM-12:00 PM: Second Power Hour
• 11:00AM-2:00 PM: Join Potomac Crescent School at Fibre Space for a knitting and handwork circle!
• 11:30AM-8:00 PM: Spring2ACTion with Volunteer Alexandria at Holy Cow Burger.
• 12:00 PM and All Day: Hungry? Pick up lunch at Holy Cow Burger, Pork Barrel BBQ or Sweet Fire Donna’s, and 25 cents of each meal will be donated to a Spring2ACTion nonprofit. The nonprofit with the most mentions wins $500!
• 1:00-7:00 PM: Stop by She’s Unique and learn more about the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA). To meet some new furry friends, check in after 3:00.
• 3:00- 4:00 PM: Third Power Hour
• 4:00-7:00 PM: Double your donation to the Center for Alexandria’s Children at The Light Horse!
• 4:00-8:00 PM: Grab a drink and decorate bottle caps with UpCycle Creative Reuse Center at Port City Brewing Company.
• 4:00-8:00 PM: The Mobile Art Lab will be stopping by CONVERGENCE. Create your own masterpiece!
• 5:00-7:00 PM: Enjoy a Parents Night Out with Arts on the Horizon at Downtown Baptist Church.
• 5:00-7:00 PM : Join Urban Alliance at La Tasca for for a Northern Virginia Mentor Appreciation Happy Hour.
• 5:00-7:00 PM: We’re back at the Braddock Metro station for more freebies!
• 5:00-7:00 PM: Unwind at Winesday at Whole Foods on Duke St. All $10 tickets will support Spring2ACTion prizes!
• 5:00-7:00 PM: Grab a drink with local archaeologists at Sweet Fire Donna’s & support Friends of Alexandria Archaeology!
• 5:00-8:00 PM: Celebrate the arts at the Alexandria Arts Forum Happy Hour at CONVERGENCE.
• 5:00-8:00 PM: Revive at Teaism and 10% of your purchase will go to Potomac Crescent School.
