Stations Closed For Weekend As Metro Prepares For Summer Shutdown
The weekend station shutdowns will allow Metro to prepare for the summer platform rehabilitation.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Consider this weekend a test for the summer shutdown of six Alexandria area Metro stations. Metro announced the Braddock Road, King Street, Eisenhower Avenue, Van Dorn Street, Huntington and Franconia-Springfield stations will be closed May 4-5 to prepare for the platform rehabilitation project. The project will close the same six stations from Memorial Day weekend (Saturday, May 25) to after Labor Day (Sunday, Sept. 8).
Free shuttle buses will replace trains on the Blue Line between Reagan National Airport and Franconia-Springfield and on the Yellow Line between Crystal City and Huntington. The Blue Line shuttle will stop at Franconia-Springfield, Van Dorn Street, King Street and National Airport. The Yellow Line shuttle will stop at Huntington, Eisenhower Avenue, King Street, Braddock Road and Crystal City.
The Blue Line shuttle does not stop at Braddock Road, and the Yellow Line shuttle does not stop at National Airport. Customers should plans for up to 15 minutes of travel time between each station.

Regular Blue Line service will run between National Airport and Largo Town Center. Yellow Line trains will run Saturday between National Airport and Mount Vernon Square only from opening through 11:15 a.m. and 2 p.m. through 7 p.m. Trains will operate Sunday between National Airport and Fort Totten.
