Sweet: New Chocolate Shop Coming to Alexandria?
In addition to hand-crafted chocolates, the owners also say coffee and hot chocolate will be on the menu.

It’s National Cocoa Day today — what better day to find out that Alexandria is about to become a little bit sweeter?
According to planning documents filed with the City of Alexandria, Old Town may soon be getting a new chocolate shop.
Kim Gustafson and Bruce Gustafson have proposed opening Blüprint Chocolatier at 1001 King St., at the corner of King Street and N. Patrick Street. If approved, the block will become something of a foodie’s dream street.

The chocolate shop would be on the same block as Killer ESP (espresso, sorbet and pie), Hank’s Oyster Bar, Alexandria Cupcake and Sam Phao Thai Cuisine.
The address currently shows it’s the home of M&M Fine Arts and Antiques. A phone call to the number listed for the store went unanswered Friday.

The owners of the proposed chocolate shop describe the business as an artisan chocolate shop, with chocolates made by hand in the lower level, and service on the main street level, with seating for less than 10.
Also on tap: Coffee and hot chocolate, and chocolates-to-go, in boxes or baskets.
Old Town Alexandria is becoming quite a sweet place, currently home to Artfully Chocolate, The Sugar Cube, Kingsbury Chocolates available in Alexandria stores, Fleurir Chocolates and Lavender Moon Cupcakery.
