T.C. Williams Celebrates 50th Anniversary This Weekend

T.C. Williams High School is celebrating its 50th anniversary this weekend with a bonfire party, anniversary parade and homecoming game. The new tennis courts at the high school will be opened this weekend as part of the celebration.

Alumni, current students and staff will gather behind Chinquapin Recreation Center on Friday night for a bonfire and pre-game rally. There will be a tailgating party on Saturday morning, followed by a 50th anniversary parade at 1 p.m. and speeches and an awards ceremony before the Homecoming football game that afternoon.

ACPS will be giving away two game packages that include a T-shirt, towel and ticket to the game. The winners will also get a booster pass eligible for free entry to all home games during the 2015-’16 season.

Prizes will go to the best photo or message on Twitter. We will be announcing the winner via Twitter on Thursday before the big weekend.

Friday, Oct. 23

5:30 p.m. — Ribbon cutting for new tennis courts, at the entrance to the new tennis courts

6:30 p.m. — Bonfire behind Chinquapin Recreation Center

7:30 p.m. — Alumni get-together at Ramparts immediately after the bonfire

Saturday, Oct. 24

11:30 a.m. — Tailgating party on the field behind Chinquapin Recreation Center

1 p.m. — 50th anniversary parade leaves from behind Chinquapin Recreation Center

1:45 p.m. — Speeches and awards before Homecoming Game

2 p.m. — Homecoming Game
