100 Of VA, DC's Best Schools: New List For 2020

Here's a new 2020 list of DC and Virginia's best schools at every grade level, including both private and public schools.

VIRGINIA — Here's a new list that lets you know if your DC or Virginia school district has the best schools on any grade level, public and private. And it also gives you a chance to question why your school doesn't rate better.

Niche.com, which specializes in all different types of rankings, including schools, has created a new list that is a bit different than the usual lists the company is known for. In this one, Niche has included both public and private schools for the District of Columbia and Virginia (see below).

That may not sound different than Niche's usual rankings, but this list includes both private and public schools and also includes elementary, middle and high schools all in the same list. Please note that this is not a ranking, but a search list, where you can see and compare all schools grouped together, organized by "Overall Grade."

Many of the best schools in the District are private schools such as Sidwell Friends School, a Quaker school that has educated Sasha and Malia Obama, as well as Chelsea Clinton.

It is important to remember that every school on this list received either an A+ or an A for an overall score from Niche.

Niche arrives at the rankings by compiling user reviews and data from the U.S. Department of Education, including grades, culture and diversity, health and safety, sports and more. You can see the methodology here.
