Tow Truck Driver Loses Limb In Alexandria Crash On 395
The victim lost part of his leg when a car struck him. Now his family wants to find the Good Samaritan that stopped to help.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—A tow truck driver was nearly killed after a car struck him on Interstate 395 in Alexandria Monday. He lost part of his leg in the crash but is expected to be ok thanks to a Good Samaritan.
The crash happened around 4 a.m. as heavy rains were creating slick conditions on the roads. The tow truck driver was clearing vehicles from an accident near Seminary Road when the crash happened, Virginia State Police say. A car driver struck the wall before hitting the driver and tow truck.
A Good Samaritan driver stopped to help the injured man, using a belt to compress the wound until first responders arrived, according to WTOP. He also talked so the victim wouldn't become unconscious and helped him call his wife.

Fred Scheler, owner of Henry's Wrecker Service in Falls Church, where the tow truck driver works, confirmed his worker lost his leg below the knee cap and is stable at the hospital.
“The family would like to thank him for basically saving my driver’s life,” Scheler told WTOP.

The only detail they know about him is that he's a military veteran, NBC Washington reported.
The driver that struck the tow truck employee was not injured and is charged with failure to maintain control.
