Today, at approximately 12:10 p.m., police were called to Maury Elementary School for a person brandishing a weapon. Several elementary school aged children reported seeing an unknown male while they were playing outside the school. The man was on the other side of a chain link fence when he called to the children to draw their attention. When several children looked over at him, he pointed what appeared to be a “long gun” at the students. The children ran to inform an adult. The man was not on school property. No children were injured.

Police say they are looking for a suspect described as a black male with a medium complexion, 5’6” to 5’8”, medium build with a “belly,” with a short black mohawk-style haircut. A new description issued later in the afternoon estimated his age at between 14 to 18 years old.

He was wearing a black shirt, blue pants, black boots and carrying what appeared to be a “long gun.” If you see someone matching this description call 9-1-1.
