Their relationship was a Washington romance not dissimilar to that of liberal spinmeister James Carville and conservative Mary Matalin.

Ham, editor of HotAir.com, is a conservative pundit and regular on Fox News. Brewer worked for the Obama administration as a senior policy advisor in the Office of The Chief Technology Officer. They didn’t let opposing viewpoints get in the way.

This past weekend, Ham announced the birth of their second child, Garnet J. Brewer, saying: “Her middle initial is for her dad, Jake. Her first name comes from a memorable hike Jake & I did above Garnet Canyon in WY when I was 7 mos pregnant w our first. I feel confident he’d love the name and is proud of all us girls today.”

Brewer, 34, a White House staffer from Alexandria, died during a charity bicycle ride in Howard County, Md. His bicycle went out of control at a sharp curve, crossed the double yellow lines and collided with an oncoming vehicle in the Mount Airy area, according to Howard County police.

More than 5,000 supporters donated more than $400,000 to the family in a GoFundMe campaign after Brewer’s death.
