YoKid Yoga Challenge Returns on Sunday
Event seeks to combat childhood obesity in Alexandria by educating kids and parents about health and nutrition.

Whole Foods is teaming up with YoKid for the nonprofit’s third annual YoKid Yoga Challenge on Sunday at Mount Vernon Recreation Center.
The event, which will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., is aimed at combating childhood obesity by educating kids and their parents about health, wellness and nutrition.
In Alexandria, 43.5 percent of children between the ages of 2 and 5 are overweight or obese, while 23.5 percent of kids between 6 and 10 fall into the same categories.

Sunday’s event is free and will include yoga mat and T-shirt giveaways, other special prizes and a 108 Sun Salutation challenge. No yoga experience is required.
Alexandria Mayor Bill Euille and Del. Rob Krupicka (D-45th) have been invited.
