GFWC Western Fairfax County Woman’s Club invites you to join us at the Cale Community Center at 7 p.m. on Monday, November 16, when Dr. Patrice Winter will present a program on “Balance: Shuffle Now, Fall Later.” Have you fallen twice in the past year? You could be a “fall risk.” Falling is not something that just “old people” do. Balance often needs to be worked with and improved on throughout this journey called life. The older we get, the harder we fall. If you are over 20, this session has your name on it.
Dr. Winter, PT, DPT, MHA, FAAOMPT, is a retired professor from George Mason University’s College of Public Health, Department of Global and Community Health, where she taught health-related curriculum with emphasis in public health, disease, healthy living and aging well. Dr. Winter practiced physical therapy for more than 35 years and was a spokesperson for the American Physical Therapy Association for almost 20 years.
This program was originally scheduled for our March 2026 meeting, but we had to cancel the meeting at the last minute due to that “snowcrete” storm (Who could ever forget that?). So we consider ourselves lucky to be able to reschedule Dr. Winter.
WFCWC usually meets at 7 p.m. at the Cale Community Center, 4615 Stringfellow Road, on the third Monday of the month, September through May. Guests are always welcome to attend our programs, as well as our social activities, which include getting together on the first and third Thursday of the month for “lunch bunch” at local restaurants, and other events. If you would like to attend our November 16 meeting, RSVP to westernfairfaxcountywc@gmail.com. For more information about WFCWC, please visit our website at www.wfcwc.org.
