
Four Young Men Receive Eagle Scout Rank Together

In an Eagle Scout Court of Honor held Friday, April 26, four scouts of Crew 1147 received the highest rank of the Boy Scouts of America. Attending the ceremony were family, friends, and invited guests. Former U.S. senator Robert Bennett gave the keynote speech and presented each of the new Eagle Scouts with a flag flown over the U.S. Capital. Each scout also received individual letters of commendation from President Obama, state and local political leaders. The four young men and their service projects were:

Charles Michael Shoop: constructed raised garden boxes to facilitate the growing vegetables by residents of a County subsidized home for women, involving 55 hours of donated work from 13 persons.
William Marcois: collected over 1,000 donated books which went to “Books for America” for distribution to teachers in low income school districts. He was helped by 25 persons donating 100 hours of labor.

Daniel Justice Garrish: installed covers over sandboxes at the ACCA Day Care Center, with help from 20 persons donating 75 hours of work.
John Joseph “JJ” Quizon: constructed a protective roof over a play area at the ACCA Day Care Center, involving 49 hours of donated work by18 persons.
JJ Quizon, Justice Garrish, and Charles Shoop all attend Annandale High School, while William Marcois attends Lake Braddock. All four are members of the Annandale Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
