Burke Man Charged in Fairfax Station Area Fatal Crash
Hossein Ghaffari-Nik was charged with driving while intoxicated and manslaughter

A 27-year-old Burke man has been charged with driving while intoxicated and manslaughter in a crash in the early morning hours on July 4.
The crash occurred near the intersection of Shirley Gate Road near Mattie Moore Court at about 4 a.m., according to the Fairfax County Police Department. The crash site was at the same intersection of a crash which seriously injured a Clifton man .
Authorities said that in Tuesday’s crash, the driver, Hossein Ghaffari-Nik, was traveling southbound on Shirley Gate Road when the car struck a curb and he lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle, a 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse, spun out of control and struck a large tree.
Sara Ghaffari-Nik, 21, was in the backseat of the car and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Police said that she was not wearing a seatbelt. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both Hossein Ghaffari-Nik and Sara Ghaffari-Nik lived at the same Burke address, police said.
Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.
