Clifton Girl Competes in Junior Olympics

Rachael Graine competed earlier this month.

An 11-year-old Clifton girl recently placed tenth in the nation in her division at the Trampoline & Tumbling Junior Olympics National Championships.

“It’s kind of nerve-wracking to compete, but when you get up there and hear your teammates cheering you, you just get up there and give it all you’ve got,” said Rachael Graine, who is an incoming seventh grader at .

Graine has been involved in tumbling for the last two-and-a-half years. She practices five days a week in the summers and three days a week during the school year at the in Burke. She said her favorite part of the sport are the competitions.

“I love how you are all one team,” Graine said.

Her family flew across the country to watch her compete at the U.S. Trampoline and Tumbling event in California earlier this month. She competed at level eight for 12 year olds

“It was very exciting,” said Lisa Graine. “I would like to see her continue in this.”
