Clifton Homes Tour Offers Virginia Design

The Clifton Community Woman's Club knows how to have a homes tour with heart.

"Just beautiful" is a comment visitors often say after touring a home on the Clifton Homes Tour for Charity, an annual event which will be held Friday, May 18, 2018. The homes are carefully selected by the Clifton Community Woman's Club (CCWC) for historical significance, architectural impact, and decor and design elements. The homeowners who open their doors for this tour know that the day's proceeds benefit the community through CCWC's 501(c)(3) Charitable Trust, providing $18,000 or more to local scholarships, food banks, and charities.

The guided tours allow visitors to hear the stories behind the homes: the history of the home itself and the people who call it home. The decor and design elements have histories as well, and many have had journeys lasting a century or more. This year, fans of farmhouse design will appreciate a Virginia farmhouse from 1901, with its original heart pine floors and banister, modern updates true to the period of the home, and antiques specific to Virginia.

Another home honors classic Williamsburg design, features bold colors, and includes a professional baker's kitchen. This home has plenty of ideas for making traditional design exciting and comfortable for the entire family.

Can a cowboy heritage blend with the spirit of an artist? A third home is the proof. Original watercolors greet visitors throughout the home, including in the artist's studio, and expertly crafted wood pieces from E.A. Clore Sons from Madison, Virginia continue this home's theme of strength and creative spirit.

For visitors seeking balance and natural elements, a fourth home showcases classic architectural symmetry and features wood, copper and granite elements. While looking out the large windows throughout the home, visitors will notice the fire pit, outdoor kitchen, and pool house ready to continue the relaxation outside the home.
