Put your cupcake skills to the test and enter
the Cupcake Challenge for the Cure. This free and open to the public event,
will raise funds and awareness about breast cancer in Northern Virginia. The
Cupcake Challenge will be held September 15, 2012 from 11-4pm at Freedom High
School in Woodbridge Virginia. Amateur, pro, team, and youth are all welcome to
show off their baking skills. Not a baker, no worries we are accepting
professional cupcake eaters too. Are you ready for a Cupcake Smack Down?

Prince William County was chosen as a target
community by Susan G. Komen, due to the alarming statistics about breast cancer
prevention and care. Forever A Pear is a walking team that participates in the
Susan G. Komen 3 Day 60 Mile. Funds raised will benefit Susan G. Komen 3 Day.
Team captain Nisi Bennett would love to see those numbers change, immediately.
“Life is meant to be celebrated, no matter what we have to face, if we remember
to be grateful for the little things, we can overcome anything. I couldn’t
think of a better way to celebrate life, then to do it with cupcakes!”  Each member of the Walking team is responsible
for raising a minimum of $2300. “Donations are always accepted”, Visit Susan G. Komen to donate! There is still time to become a vendor or baker,
contact Forever A Pear at foreverapear@gmail.com or visit their website at http://www.foreverapear.com/FOREVER-A-CUPCAKE.html

There will be more than just cupcakes at this event. The Vendor
Mall will have over 20 local and international vendors with both familiar and
eclectic merchandise. Everything from jewelry to clothes to candles, you name
it, it will be there. You can purchase cupcakes from local bakers too.  Motivational speaker and former NFL player
Tony Collins will be there to speak and show his support to the men that take
care of the women fighting breast cancer. Tony Collins successful career was
highlighted by a trip to the Super Bowl XX. Tony has spent recent years
traveling the country motivating communities to “Become What You Believe”.

Judges at this event include Stephanie, the
Cupcake Critic, who has been dubbed the Lois Lane of cupcakes; Stephanie is the
creator of the DC based food blog, http://www.thecupcakecritic.com/ and a featured blogger on Washington Eats,
Urban Spoon, and the mobile app UrbanDig.com.   SGT J. Payne of the United
States Army has been serving his country since 2008. SGT Payne will be putting
his B.S. degree in marketing from NC A&T State University to good use when
judging, being a Kappa Alpha Psi, he will be partial to anything red. Maria
Jose Ovalle, mommy blogger from Very
Busy Mamá
which is focused on life, beauty, fitness and style for moms. The other
3 judges will be picked from a pool of women that have been either fighting
breast cancer, supporting finding a cure, or have lost a love one to breast
cancer.  The grand prize will be a 4 day 3 night stay in a 2 bedroom condo
with full resort amenities in Williamsburg VA at a top of the line resort.
There will be surprise raffles and giveaways, such as a Silpada gift
certificate for $150 and a 3 night stay at Colonial Williamsburg. There is
going to be something for everyone. What better way to celebrate life and
defeat breast cancer!
