Fairfax Station Votes in Primaries Tuesday

Fairfax Station voters are coming out for today's Republican primaries for U.S. Senate and the 11th congressional district.

At , four voters were waiting when officials opened the doors at 6 a.m., according to election officer Jo Porter.

As of about 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, 25 voters had stopped by to do their civic duty at Silverbrook Elementary School, which serves as a precinct. Former Senator and Governor , considered the frontrunner in today's GOP primary for the U.S. Senate, was out greeting voters. Also on the ballot today are tea party member , state Del. of Prince William County and minister .

Allen was expected to campaign around Northern Virginia today and then head to Richmond to a rally to watch for results tonight. The winner of the Senate GOP primary will face former governor, Tim Kaine.

Porter said she was concerned that some voters were not aware that boundaries have changed due to redistricting.

Fairfax Station is split now between the 10th congressional district, represented by Republican Congressman Frank Wolf and the 11th district, represented by Democrat Congressman Gerry Connolly. For those in the 11th District, there is a Republican primary today between and .
