FCPS Students Observe Lunch Week

Fairfax County Public Schools students observe National School Lunch Week this week with a focus on "Let's Grow Healthy."

The campaign’s goals are to help students learn about nutrition. The 2011 theme provides the opportunity to promote locally-sourced foods. FCPS Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) purchases seasonal fruits and vegetables from farmers in the area as part of its Farm to School program.

Currently, 12 percent of the $2 million purchases of produce by FCPS are locally grown. Additional information about the Farm to School program can be found on their website.
