House Fire in Clifton Displaces Family of 7

The fire department says the home sustained about $50,000 in damage; the Red Cross is providing support to the displaced family.

CLIFTON, VA -- Firefighters from Fairfax County Fire and Rescue responded to a house fire Friday morning at approximately 7:05 a.m., in the Clifton area of Fairfax County, according to the fire department. The home is located in the 7000 block of Rose Gate Court.

When they arrived on the scene, firefighters found smoke and fire coming from a two-story single-family home, the department said.

Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack and quickly extinguished the fire, according to the fire department. Smoke alarms were present and did activate.

One occupant was home at the time of the fire, but was not inside the house, the fire department noted. Seven occupants were displaced by the fire--two adults and five children. Red Cross is providing support to the family. There were no injuries reported.

Damage is estimated at $50,000. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
