Moments Of Joy on June 21 2016 For Elita
Some many splendored moments on my birthday today.
I want to write a story on how I spent my 82bd birthday. It was nice and full of surprises. My son was coming to dinner with the children. Mommie had to work but we celebrated all together for Father's day. We had a nice dinner that evening and then here comes the 21st and they would be back here again. My son got caught in the terrible rain about 230 or so He came from work all soaking wet. He said he would be back at 530 and lo and behold the rain poured so hard and the lightening was deafening. In fact I thought it hit the house but it did not. It did knock out the cable television and it still is out. I got the computer and this is a blessing for sure. They will be back to celebrate my birthday a day late, so it glorious to have another day to look forward to. My friend Carmen rang the doorbell around 2 PM and she brought me a beautiful vase of roses and I think yellow daisies which were giant in size and a lovely balloon saying Happy Birthday. I met her handsome teenage sons Ricardo and Rafael. What kind and caring young men they are at age 13 and 16. It was a joy to meet such darling teens. They went downstairs and immediately played pool there. It was a surprise and an extremely wonderful one.You dear Carmen, have raised two special and delightful teens. My favorite all time song, book and movie is called Love Is A Many Splendored Thing. The hero in the movie/book says to the heroine, played by Jennifer Jones and William Holden, "You and I have never lost, our love and we have not missed the many splendored thing." She and I talked and finally they had to go home, a 60 minute ride and they just missed the rain I think. I have not been in the company of teens for a long time and they were so refreshing to speak with them about school and sports too. So you my dear Carmen Elena, I have not missed the many splendored feeling of having a young friend like you because you are part of the many splendored moments in my senior life. My son, daughter-in-law and my granddaughter and grandson are the other special always wonderful moments in my senior life. As my friend Betty Wilson in Florida always ends her notes to me "life is good." So it is too with my husband of 56 years. I had the song from the movie sung at my wedding after we walked down the aisle. It is said "Glory is a torch to kindle the noble mind." Also Andy, her husband is a good friend too.All of these folks and my family are bright lights in my world kindled by love.
