The home was destroyed in a Sunday morning fire

Fire officials continue to investigate the cause of a Sunday morning fire that destroyed a Fairfax Station home.

On Tuesday afternoon, a fire truck was parked in front of the home on 10410 Dominion Valley Drive and a burning scent still lingered in the air. Pockets of the home still appeared to be smoldering. The 2-story home was declared a "total loss" by the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.

Firefighters responded to the fire at the home at about 3 a.m. on Sunday. No one was home at the time.

The home was consumed in flames when firefighters arrived. It took firefighters over an hour to bring the fire under control, the fire department reported.

Three residents were displaced as a result of the fire.

A family member was taken to INOVA Fairfax Hospital for a non-life threatening injury. One firefighter was taken to the Washington Hospital Burn Center for a non-life threatening injury.
