The gently worn shoes that students collected will be donated to non-profit organizations. The athletic shoes were donated to the Nike Corporations “Reuse-A-Shoe” campaign, where old athletic shoes are dismantled and recycled for use on athletic court surfaces.
“I think a lot of the students were just bringing in whatever worn shoes they had in their houses,” Cummings said.
