South County Sports Roundup: Girls Swim and Dive Defeats Annandale

Boys Basketball (3-3):

After beginning the season with two consecutive victories, South County struggled and loss its next three contests. However, the Stallions defeated Centreville 64-54 on Dec. 13, to grab the team’s first win in four tries.

Stallion leading scorer, Justin Hampton (19.5 points per game), led the team with 23 points and three three-pointers while seven other Stallions shooters scored in the contest.

JV Basketball (0-2):

The Stallion JV squad moved to 0-2 on the season with a 46-21 loss to T.C. Williams on Dec. 9.

Girls Basketball (1-4):

South County girls basketball is looking for its first win since its season-opening 48-38 victory over Hayfield. Centerville defeated the Stallions 64-37 on Dec. 13. Centreville’s Katie Blumer was difficult to contain as she connected on five three-pointers en route to a 15-point effort. Teammate Jenna Green led the Wildcats in scoring with 23 points.

April Henson led the Stallions in scoring with 11 points while Angela Banks finished with eight.

Up Next: The team travels to Lee on Dec. 16 for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.

Stallion Swim and Dive:

The Stallion girls swim and dive team defeated Annandale 198-117 on Dec. 9 while the Stallion boys loss 189-126.

Up next: Both teams compete against Lake Braddock on Dec. 16 at 6:00 p.m.
